“Now you are on the journey of Self exploration and finding ways of being the best version of your whole self, come and join us for this weekend Zoom Retreat of Mantras & Mudras.”

Mudrā is a symbolic expression of psycho-physiological, emotional, aesthetic and even devotional attitudes which the practitioner is aiming to ultimately experience. The Sanskrit word mudrā is derived from two root words, mud meaning 'to please or delight' and dravay (the causal form of dru) which is 'to draw forth'. The purpose of the practice of mudrā is, therefore, to give pleasure and satisfaction to the object of reference which then rebounds on the practitioner. If you have learnt and practised the Gāyatrī Mudrā sequence with Swamiji or Kriya Yoga meditation you will have had first hand experience of this effect of mudrā.

All the mudrās were originally realised by yogis and meditation practitioners of yore. You may even find yourself moving spontaneously into various mudrā and āsana during periods of intense practise.

Mudrās influence the mind through direct stimulation of the brain, via the nervous system as well as through indirect stimulation of the brain via manipulation of prāṇa. By focusing the mind on mantra during the practice you potentize the effects.
